The 10th annual VUSD Festival of the Arts will feature art booths from every campus in the Vista Unified School District, as well as performances by more than 20 student groups performing on three outdoor stages. The festival, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, will be staged on Main Street, which will be blocked off in front of the Krikorian movie theater, according to founding organizer Anne Fennell, a teacher at Mission Vista High School.
Fennell said last year’s event had more than 1,000 pieces of student art on display and drew a crowd of more than 5,000. She’s hoping for an even bigger turnout this year.
The highlight will be a choir performance at 12:30 p.m. featuring more than 300 students from different campuses. Among the scheduled groups are middle and high school jazz and folkloric dance troupes, show bands, a steel drum ensemble, the Drumming Dragons, guitar and wind ensembles, choirs and theater troupes. firstname.lastname@example.org
