I like the number 12. Here are a dozen random things about me.
Travel yes, I want to do more. I’ve been more than half the states, Mexico, Aruba, Puerto Rico, Grand Cayman, Italy, Portugal and Ireland to date.
Ireland was my favorite.
It’s magical, soulful, stunning
and evokes thoughts of mystery, history and heart wrenching music and rainbows.
My Grandmother, Eileen Waters, worked for the Singer sewing machine company in Washington DC. She was an amazing seamstress. She made draperies, slipcovers and upholstered furniture. She constantly updated and changed the look of her home, which was very eclectic, beautiful and welcoming. My other grandmother; Wanda Zandler was very fashionable and adept at creating her own designer looks. Time spent with them both is where my love of design started.
Buzz…..The name Deborah means bee in Hebrew. I like that. We’re both workers.
I’ve planned 32 birthday parties. Everything from Winnie the Pooh, Godzilla to the Amazing Race. Milestones and memories and I loved every minute of it..
I take my Claire Burke “original” room spray everywhere. I mean everywhere. I love this smell. For the past 20 years, I spritz this to make my home-a-way from home; feel like, you know.
I love rocks.
I really appreciate Richard Neutra’s architecture. You can breathe in that mid-century open floor plan with lots of window glass, high wood ceilings and always great fireplace.
I admire classic Spanish architecture too. The clean white plaster, with wrought iron, beautiful tiles and rich dark woods make me want to move right in.
I love the challenge of designing art walls. What a beautiful statement they make within a space. Got Art?
I like drumming. If you happen by a drum circle session while in the park, stay and give a listen its a really special experience.
Living rooms and Kitchens are my favorite rooms to design. The living room is a blending and layering that reflects my client’s spirit . Even though it’s cliché, the kitchen is the heart of the home.
I love to get out and hike in San Diego County, “Afoot and afield” by Jerry Schad is a wonderful resource book that tells me of new places to discover in my own backyard
I am glad you are here visiting my blog
